Something I love: Teaching

This week, I will be teaching a class in web development at a school in Randers. It is an international group of Hospitality and Tourism Management students. Many of them aim for a job in the tourism industry. Of course they do not need to be overly skilled web-developers. Nonetheless, it can be helpful, to learn some basic skills related to working with websites; both technically and conceptually. And that is where I come in.

My life is about doing what I feel like. I don’t restrict myself to one job or one past-time activity. Personally, I want my virtual online identity to reflect my life style. My identity should be a collection of the diversity of my activities. This encompasses: my cocktail reviews, my website portfolio. my pictures, my random ideas and thoughts and my resume.

New website for me

The personal website has evolved from a standard business card to an online portfolio. Some switched to blogs, whilst others moved into the online open spaces of social networks like MySpace and Facebook. My old website had become a Hemmingwayan island, perpetually isolated from the real action and consequently fragmented into numerous sub-sites for various projects.

A writer’s website: Thorkild Borup

The idea of designing a website for a writer was a new challenge for me. Thorkild Borup has written several books about famous Danish authors including H. C. Andersen, Benny Andersen, Ludvig Holberg and Tom Kristensen. Therefore, he needed a simple website where the main focus would be on the text/words and he showed me a couple of examples from other websites.
